By looking for absurdity within the normal
a new image emerges.
I play with the relationship human / object / pattern.
Plus I refer to the concept within the work.
Since we bouth have way too much stuff, we organized a flea market. Rommel in NL means garbage. The Christmas market in the Netherlands is also an annual tradition. There was no better combination and the "Kerstrommelmarkt" was born.
The garbage bags were filled with items of different values. The cheapest one contained a year's supply of plastic (illegal) straws. The other contained old work that I managed to sell this way. The largest garbage bag contained two Mac computers. This is the only one not sold. Maybe next year you will have better luck.

In 2022 and 2023 there was a large turnout of farmers and citizens angry with the government. So angry that they no longer show respect for the Dutch flag. You can call it a kind of declaration of death. However, I believe that this route is not the solution. It only causes polarization. During the turnout I also noticed that both supporters and opponents did not listen to each other. Only shouting and recriminations are what emerged.
I designed this flag in the context of "we need to listen to each other more". An anti-polarizing flag. The old flag and the flag on the head form smaen "The new flag of The Netherlands"

A tribute to a monument that was previously used as a shelter for soldiers. However, nowadays the bunker was more used as a hiding place for the 16 year old smoker. Joints, candy wrappers from previous decades and the odd turd took over the atmosphere of this great one. I wanted to make a statement through the placement of the frame. By framing it, I turn it into a work of art.
My original plan was to clear the place of 16 year old stoners. A real war in which "The Bunker" is no longer seen as a tool, but rather as the goal. To ensure that the place remained clean and serene, I planned to turn the courtyard into an exhibition space. So that the neighborhood gained double benefit from it. However, some residents of the Fokkerweg in Lonneker did not agree. The Frame (the actual work of art) would be too dangerous and should be removed, according to them. They won that battle after more than six months and after months of consultation with all kinds of authorities, I have to throw down the battle frame.
Gratis is dutch for free. The sticker ittself but also the object you stick it on becomes free.

Since I'm a piece of art. I tried to sell myself. First I called Sotheby's. Which is the biggest online art auction in the world. I wanted to asked if it's possible to sell myself. The man on the line told me it doesn't matter what I sell, but the artists have to be esthablished. Sadly my parents aren't.
Then I tried Catawiki. Also an online auction. I ran into a few obstacles. What is the technique of the artwork. I entered intercourse. I got mailed saying it is nice concept, but not suitable for them...

A beautiful piece of aluminum has left us. I decided to go into the neighborhood to share the sad news and provide everyone with an obituary and the remaining seeds so the people can leave a clover at the funeral.
Klaver Kas / Clover Greenhouse - ☘️ are often used as green manure and animal feed, making them a very functional plant. Yet, this true whopper is more often seen as a weed. Only 🍀 is highly valued. Though, this is nothing more than a mistake from nature. You can also buy 🍀 seeds. However, these are not clovers, but wood sorrels. They are just a look-a-like. In short, reason enough to put the regular ☘️ in the spotlight (het zonnetje) and give it its well-deserved podium. Packaged and a touch of narcissism.

The 6 plastic circles have been carefully removed with a coin or key. The cans were then drunk one by one, holding the entire six-pack above the head. The pitfall, however, was sometimes forgetting which can had been opened. The result is a whole load of beer or soft drink down your neck. Not very appetizing.
The trick is to leave 1 can closed and balance does its work.

Is a bridge without a connection still a bridge? Or is it purely a construction that resembles a bridge? With this work I want the viewer to think about function and context. What is and what isn't?
Many have taken that question to themselves. Almost every day when I walked past my work, which was next to the academy and small pond, I saw people trying to start a relationship with it. You look at it, but something isn't right. I saw children jumping on it with boots on, a young man with a scooter who claimed he would drive over it, a few candles had been placed and even some dogs that started sniffing out of curiosity.
A month later and the water has disappeared with the arrival of spring. An ideal moment to move the bridge.
Because now I had received an answer to my question. It's not a bridge. It's a construction that is moved from A to B. The relocation has become the bridge and the construction has started to live its own life

Another month passes and the structure is gone. After a short investigation I came into conversation with one of the gardeners at the Volkspark in Enschede, the place where I parked it. They were full of questions that they could not answer. He told me they tore it down and got rid of it. Inside I wanted to cry, but the thought that they didn't know what to do with it gave me a small spark of joy.

Shopping carts have become part of our street scene. You see them everywhere and they're used for many more things than just shopping at the supermarket. For this reason I decided to recycle abondoned shopping carts and give them a new life.
The event was a great success. All shopping carts have been sold. the lowest for €2 (which still fits in a shopping cart) and the highest for €70. A small tear also fell. It felt like I took care of 5 children for 2 months and then sent them out into the world.
The buyers are provided with a certificate of authenticity and the auctioneer with a hammer.
